    Given their personalities, I suppose Wakeng would read book 1, Elio for book 5.

    Actually, come to think of it, Wakeng probably would go for book #4 imo. Why? Because iirc he once commented about the Guild's services being akin to government work or something like that. Also, book #5 probably would be too heavy (like, content-heavy) for Elio. Maybe that one could be for Robin?

    That book seems to agree, if Wakeng is more inclined to read on laws and all that. And hey, if Robin is already invested in reading, then why not read the heavy book?

    On second thought, Elio might already know the basic dos and don'ts of Luminous from his internship days, so...

    Exactly - Wakeng wants job stability, and that means no accidentally breaking the law

    It is still an at least 150 page book, so it goes past the most basic dos and don'ts. Elio could still pick that one up.

    @122 Generation
    Oh yeah, forgot to mention. Materials and Magic: 3rd Edition is about the interactions between Luminous and regular matter, meant for Terraformers, Transmutationists, Alchemists, or anyone else who has an active matter-bending spell. It's one of Harvin's all-time favourites for beginners. It can be decently difficult in later chapters, but before it gets there it provides a lot of good information for beginners.

    Jinguang Combat Guide covers mostly Luminous dueling but also basic martial arts, unarmed combat, and quite a few Battlemage techniques and tricks, as well as basic weapon channelling. It's up-to-date with multiple of the current Masters' own advice.

    And Law is Magic is pretty obvious. It goes over the laws ruling crimes against humanity, the level of magic allowed in certain areas (especially protected wildlife), and the like. It also provides information on how rules are different for retired and active Gilded, in what areas are Masters allowed to call the shots and in which areas they aren't, and so on. It's an unusual pick and wasn't part of the section until recently, when Idra's campaign to add it finally won over some of the other Masters and the local librarians.

    Then Robin might not find anything about Summoning, it seems. At least he could get a foundation on how Luminous works and pick up a few other tips while he's at it.

    Summoning spells that make use of the environment would be covered. Something like an "awakening" spell that forms minions from bricks, or even the type of thing Sirenne does occasionally involves materials. But this is just one book. Robin can pick up more later offscreen.
