More random thoughts ahoy~ Should we end up rolling with Cofagrigus as the necromancer boss, I wanna call them Coffee Gregus (or just Gregus for short) for some reason. Considering the Eternatus Parasite Fossil theory, this is how I'd imagine the siphoning attempt would go from Blacky's POV: Spoiler: Well? As soon as Miss Magius and her cronies went down, some sort of dark power leaked out from their bodies and headed straight to the heroes. But much to Blacky's surprise, a bright light containing some sort of holy power emanated from his bag, protecting him and his allies by forcibly purifying the dark power somehow. This light actually came from the Sword of the Seven Stars' special jewels tucked inside his bag, though not even Blacky himself was aware of it. And by the time the light faded, the dark power was nowhere to be found. A glimmering jewel -- the seventh component of the Sword of the Star -- was spotted laying on the ground instead. Do you think it would make sense?
Ooh, that's some nice buildup there for the final superweapon-esque thing going with the Sword of Stars. Gregus sounds good, maybe "Coffee Gregus" is a nickname they earned from some unspoken incident at the school. Or maybe they haven't been letting students sleep. If I remember correctly (unlikely), we have Weavile/Decidueye for Round 1, Zoroark for Round 2, and Gregus/Unnamed Dragalge/Miss Magius for the final fight. Everyone's free to name any of the bosses as you like, by the way.
Cue another PMD reference when the Time/Darkness heroes go to the Hidden Land on a Lapras' back. I can't help but think "Coffee Gregus" sounds like some kind of rival to Atelier's coffee-making skills You know, now that I think of it, I could draw a parallel between Eternatus and FF7's Sephiroth, where supposedly Sephiroth was dead but he manifested in an avatar and after some insidious plot to infuse the avatar with the remains of a villainous alien, the avatar became the resurrected Sephiroth. We could do the same with the Shadow DK.
I actually got the name "Coffee Gregus" from somewhere else, but that could be a nice IC tidbit about them. That, or maybe we can do a SwSh reference with the Corviknight Taxi? I'd imagine the Kickenham gang are gonna take the Lapras ride anyway. Does the island have its own armory?
In that case, I'll save Blacky's sword upgrading for once we get to the island. He'll just send a mail and pick up his quest rewards for now.
I think SAF meant the post about Blacky. Wave responded saying the archmage gave him thanks, but Blacky isn't a mage.
Fun fact: We ended up going back to the original plan despite everything. Actually, Choco's right. I was trying to correct Wave on this:
@WavePearl @122 Generation @ChocoChicken Actually, are there? Doesn't have to be weapons and/or instruments, anything works.
@122 Generation Jewelry and trinkets would work as well (assuming those aren't already filed under accessories)
Tl;dr I ended up going with these for our Calyrex quest rewards: Aurora Veil scroll for Xuehua, Icebrand for Blacky, Echoed Voice scroll for Aine, and Brynhildr for Atelier. Highly doubt the Fujin Yumi would fit in the setting tho.
Yep, plus a Final Fantasy one on Blacky's part. Anyway, have more context on this post: Spoiler: Celine's case Like Xuehua, Celine was originally from Spikeford. But instead of the Dragon Kings' tyrannical rule, Celine's main problem was on her alcoholic mother, down to the various problems that came with it. Her more sober father took her away when she was a toddler, eventually settling down at Kickenham. But alas, he passed away in a Sol DK raid on the city and Celine eventually ended up staying in the orphanage Alys was running. Meanwhile, back in Spikeford, Celine's mother apparently chose her new boyfriend over her family. But then shit hit the fan on her part and she missed the family she had abandoned. Realizing that her family was already on the run (sans her oldest son, Elio, who was staying in the Shadowblight dorms at the time his dad and Celine went on the run), she set out to look for them. Fast forward to 2 years before the RP's prologue, 12 y.o. Celine was supposed to be adopted (?) by a Delphox claiming to be her birth mother. Alys usually does a background check on the would-be adopters of her children -- and this one turned out to be ill-suited for parenthood, let alone adoption. Problem is, the Delphox lady looked like she wouldn't take "no" for an answer despite Celine's refusal to come home with her and Alys' refusal to allow it, hence Josson's bright idea to send her on a wild goose chase (or, well, a wild Yungoos chase as Wave phrased it IC) on the supposed adoption day. To pull this off, Josson hired Forrest to lure Celine to the Tangle and, together with Blacky (and Elio later on), watch over her until the situation was safe. And Celine's mother? Epona led her to an appropriate judgment as soon as she entered the Tangle in an attempt to bring her kid back. So... yeah, I've been reading too much Quora/Reddit stories when I wrote all that.
"TIFU by trying to adopt child" Wonder how a meeting might go down with both Celine and Xuehua originally coming from Spikeford, huh. Assuming we are meeting Celine, that is.
More like "TIFU by trying to take my kid back" And yes, we'll meet Celine (and Forrest too) in the Kickenham arc. But before that, one question: At what age did Xuehua run away? Celine was a toddler when she and her dad went on the run, so I highly doubt she'd known Xuehua by her real name.
