@122 Generation "If it was the archmage who told you this, I would heed his words." Aine mused. "He has never been wrong, so great is his psychic power."
"But can we really wait that long? Two weeks is a lot of time for a dragon to get more powerful, and a lot more victims." Xuehua countered. "Isn't it better to strike before he does?"
@ChocoChicken "While racing in sounds appealing, I still believe we could plan." Aine cautioned. "We don't want to face a dragon unprepared..."
Atelier looked at Xuehua. "Two weeks is also a lot of time to plan an attack, unsuspectingly. To add to your point, we can strike at any time. Whether it's taking out his forces -" He glanced at Blacky. "- or weakening the Dragon King himself before he surfaces. So what we're doing is limiting or even reducing the dragon's power, while still preparing for the inevitable attack. That's an advantage we have."
@122 Generation Aine nodded in agreement. Atelier did have a point. "Knowing what we know now, how should we go about our offensive?"
"If we have to go diving for real, earth should be handy here," Blacky relayed what the dojo master told him. "Thunder may be more powerful underwater, but one careless move and we're all toast," he warned.
Atelier chuckled. “So we would have to have a sharpshooter if we have a thunder user.” He may have carried electric tomes in his bag but wouldn’t think of harming his allies if that was possible. Thinking back to strategy, he said, “Let’s use an earth attacker if we can. That said, we’ll have to infiltrate the palace somehow... and us with swords will go attack first. And we can advise the townsfolk to prepare for the worst...”
"And Blacky's the one with the runes, right?" Xuehua responded. "If we can set those up to be activated constantly around the Dragon King, that should be enough to at least break down some of his defenses."
Blacky nodded in affirmation at Xuehua's question, then went even closer to the group. "But I only have ten of those..." he whispered as if it was a top secret or something. I mean, who knows if there were some random people eavesdropping on them?
@SAF @122 Generation @ChocoChicken "I have some archery expertise..." Aine offered as she showed the group a beautiful sparkling white bow with colorful rainbow inlays. "I do not know if I have earth arrows, though."
Atelier did a double take. “So are we actually assaulting the palace or are we just making strategic attacks until the full moon?” He wasn’t clear on what was decided.
"Actually..." something popped in Blacky's mind. "I'm thinking that we should pretend we're treasure hunters and go to the palace to deal with the minions inside," he suggested. "But will they respawn next time we come in? And will the Dragon King notice that?"
@SAF "The only way to find out is to go inside." Aine replied. "If we need to move in, we need to do it soon."
And then Blacky sighed as his own train of thoughts got him nowhere. He decided to wait for everyone else's inputs for this one. (@122 Generation @ChocoChicken) Anyway, speaking of what might be super-effective for this battle (aside from the Mega Runes of the Flower), Blacky's own skills was rather limited. He could've used Strike Edge Atmos Blade and Arbo Edge whose elements being thunder and nature's earth respectively, but the former was a bit riskier than the latter. That, and not to mention the much riskier Zap Cannon that his master had taught him some time ago. So Blacky's safest bet for this one would be his Arbo Edge.
Xuehua herself, being limited to her ice spells, wondered about their effectiveness in a raid. There were still a few ones she hadn't used before, but if there was a horde attack, there was that Hail spell she'd been waiting to use for a while. She'd meant to use it up against the Earth Dragon King, but just seeing that pathetic creature in front of her had made her snap and unleash her most powerful attack first. Either way, there were some other skills she would have to learn herself if she were to have to take on more powerful foes.
If a horde of minions was to be expected, Atelier thought, then area of effect attacks would be useful. He figured he would use his ice tome and see what kinds of support he could give, since he had forgotten to buy a new electric tome (and nor would it be safe to use it at this time). "Let's go with Blacky's suggestion," he said. "But instead of pretending to be treasure hunters, let's say that we actually are treasure hunters. We'll take what we can to weaken the Dragon King, any treasures that could help us, and by the time he surfaces in two weeks, the battle will be a breeze. We simply can't win while we're in the water."
@122 Generation Aine nodded. "The water is the dragon's power. We would be powerless under the sea. So how do we engage on land?"
"We engage on land in two weeks, so we can plan for that," Atelier said. "For now, let's start infiltrating the Dragon King's palace and have our defensive units - Blacky and me - advance first."
"Heck yeah, let's do that," Blacky smugly agreed. Deep down he hoped to find something they could use in the palace.
