@122 Generation @SAF @WavePearl I've planned for this last boss to be the most difficult one gameplay wise - and the only one in which (for story reasons, at most 2) characters can be fainted. Something close to an HP bar mechanic will be played, which I will explain below: All party members begin with 5 HP, and every successful attack from the enemy will take one. I've adjusted balancing as such, and multi-hit moves will not be used unless the party is significantly ahead. If there are any complaints, let me know. The general system will remain the same as the past two fights, but there are mechanics specific to this battle that will kick into place once each of Miss Magius's two lackeys are downed. I would still recommend to down them immediately, tactically speaking, as it would reduce enemy attack numbers. Fight is predicted to take around five turns. Maybe six. Four is very unlikely.
And how would healing moves and/or spells work here? Also, Wave, what does Aine mean by "it's not the main fight I have waited for"?
Healing will heal 1HP max, 2 if you nat20, but of course rolling would still be a thing. If a partywide heal is used, the enemy will begin using multitarget attacks, for balance purposes.
Random question to @WavePearl: Can a grass-type learn ice and/or luna spells? If yes, how doable would it be on the scale of 1-10?
@SAF It depends on which Grass type you want to use. Then I'd have to go check that Pokémon's moveset, and go from there.
I've been mix-matching all versions of available movesets for attacks, so... why not both? And to Choco, thank you~
You mentioned back early on that "all possible learnable moves" were fair game, so I've been skipping around all the generations picking up whatever sounded good. Back then, though, we didn't have S/V, so your ruling on that one - but SAF has already mentioned the existence of Bitter Blade, so.
Wait, was I not supposed to? My bad. On another note, I do wonder how Choco would deal with pre-battle boosts like this:
@ChocoChicken How long would be a decent about of time for Aine's protection song to last before she needs to re-apply it again?
I'll let it last until fight mechanic kicks in. At that point, I would recommend pushing full offense.
Random hindsight thought about this: Dunno about Aine, but if Xuehua thought Blacky was uptight, his master -- a normal Jolteon -- would be even more uptight. And coupled with Xuehua's history, could the "uptight" part be less of a shiny mon thing and more of a mentor thing? Also, remind me, was Xuehua's initial disdain to shinies throughout Summerton arc noticeable enough to Aine and/or Blacky as our resident shinies?
Neither of them really reacted to it. And by the time she met Josson, her initial first opinions on Blacky had already been subverted. I don't think Xuehua would appreciate having a mentor of her own, though, even going forwards.
