Group RP Pokemon Legends: The Phoenix and the Demon Emperor (IC thread)

As usual, Makoto was last to wake up and had not looked rested when Kotone dragged him out of bed. On the other hand, Belle was up and running and had tried to get whatever sunshine she could. She also motioned for Hideki to get her some water… At least he knew what she was speaking.

[Water, please!] she squeaked.

 

A little squeak snapped Hideki back to reality. Turned out that it was Belle asking for some water. "Okay okay. A moment, please," Hideki chuckled as he stood up from his seat to grab two bottles of water -- one for Belle and one for himself.

Meanwhile, Kaede could be seen having breakfast alone at that corner over there. Like Hideki earlier, Kaede had been thinking about the relation between the chi of humans and the Pokémon types. Red, blue, yellow, lavender, cyan, and silver chi were no-brainers as their type representations are as clear as their colors would suggest. Purple chi, however, was the trickiest because Kaede couldn't find any Pokémon types that accurately represents cosmic powers.

(Welp, forgot to ask this before: Can anyone read a person's chi with a right spell? Or is the ability limited only to certain people?)

 

[Thanks very much!] Belle bowed to Hideki and she went to grab more sunshine. With the right combination of sunlight and water, she would have enough energy for today.

But before Belle could enjoy her water, the common room was disturbed by Kotone bursting in, dragging Makoto behind her who also had their equipment. “Good morning everyone!” Kotone said loudly.

Belle sighed deeply.

 

(I'm not sure if Hideki should be able to sense chi in others, so yeah...)

The thought of chi somehow reminded Kaede of that one time back in Golden Mountain City when Hideki had asked one of the mages in a mage guild to check Kaede's chi. At first she mentioned her being an ice-type only for Hideki to feel it suspicious. Only after one chi checking did he somewhat believe it thanks to the cyan chi radiated from Kaede. No wonder, considering the notion of humans with Pokémon types had weirded him out at first.

But then both Kaede (who was still having breakfast) and Hideki (who was drinking his own water) choked upon seeing Kotone's sudden (?) arrival. Her loud “Good morning everyone!” didn't help either.

 

Kotone laughed. "I don't get a good morning though?" she said to everyone (even some patrons were giving Kotone curious looks). Then she walked up to Kaede, and sat down beside her spontaneously. "Alrighty, Kaede-chan. How are you feeling today? A bit warmer than Mako, I bet! Right, Mako... Eh? Where did you go?"

Somehow, Makoto had loosened Kotone's grip on him and had gone to get a cup of tea. "When do we head out?" he muttered.

 

Unfortunately for Kotone, her random (?) question went unnoticed as Kaede was still choking on her food. She had been having a coughing fit in an attempt to stop the choking for quite some time now.

As for Hideki, he quickly recovered from his choking fiasco because he merely choked on water instead of food. And yes, he heard Mio's plan for today and Makoto's question just now. "I'd love to say 'soon', but looks like we're not ready yet," he replied.

 

"Oh dear..." Kotone said. In an effort to help, she rubbed Kaede's upper back.

"I should get her some water," Makoto remarked. Turning to Hideki he added, "Maybe we'll be ready by then." He stood up to grab a cup of water for Kaede and brought it to her. Belle could only sweatdrop.

 

(Sorry for the delay, folks. Took me a bit to google the Heimlich maneuver for this.)

Okay, this is bad, Hideki frowned upon realizing what was going on. And seeing the others already helping Kaede out, he opted to stay with Mio and focusing his own chi to help her out.

Meanwhile, Kaede could feel several rounds of back blows and abdominal thrusts hitting her plus a rub on her upper back. The catch? Kotone only did the rubbing and there was nobody else around to do the actual Heimlich maneuver (or so it seems, as Kaede didn't notice Mio and Hideki doing it from afar). Regardless, it took quite some time for Kaede to finally dislodge the blockage. She had to catch some air afterwards, though.

 

"I- I'm good," Kaede said while still panting by the time Hideki came to her side. She also signed "fine" (as in "I'm fine") in case anyone couldn't hear what she just said. Kaede then turned to Kotone and mused, "Didn't see that coming, honestly."

(Fun fact: Kaede had learned sign language as a part of her education back home. She still can hear just fine, though.)

 

"You're alive!" Kotone cheered, despite Kaede's musing, and went to hug her very tightly. "We thought we lost you!"

Makoto shook his head. It wasn't like Kaede was looking at death in the eye, nor was she unconscious. He knew Kotone could exaggerate anything and everything, so he wasn't surprised. Belle, having had her fill of water, hopped from the window and went to check on Kaede too.

 

"Ow! You- squish-" Kaede squeaked in an attempt to yell "You're squishing me!" thanks to Kotone's tight hug. As a side effect, she could barely breathe and unable to even sign.

"Shiomi Kotone!" Hideki called the redhead out with a stern (if not nearly furious) tone and stepped forward to yank her out from Kaede. "Can you back off already? She needs to breathe!" he scolded at Kotone.

 

"Aw... Okay," Kotone replied, though she felt Makoto also drag her aside.

"I'll take it from here," he muttered to Hideki.

Belle poked Kaede's ankle. [You okay?] she squeaked.

(Yeah)

 

Hideki silently thanked Makoto with a nod, then steadied Kaede who was still gasping after both the choking fiasco and Kotone's unwarranted hug. "You okay there?" he asked Kaede who replied with a rather weak nod and an even weaker "Yeah...”, thus answering both Hideki's and Belle's questions despite not even noticing the latter's poke on her ankle.
