There's this official bunch of concept art from Let's Go. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1dM39LtVSUYHqfrHfOpkpd0DmZRfkpLE8 And… …how can I put this…
1) That tie is badass. 2) Why does his not-completely-bald and not-mustachioed version of Blaine looks familiar somehow... has he been in any games aside from LGPE? Not only is he a master of quizzes, but also a master of disguise... do I actually know anything?
Might be because that was how Blaine looked in the Anime and in some of the Gen 1 art from Red and Blue as well. Spoiler
Wait.... Blaine's mustache is fake? I'm so disappointed in my (now former) favorite Fire-type specialist.
OOOOOH, that makes so much sense @Hraesvelgr Lol, I feel like Pokémon has been making a lot of cracks at itself in both the anime and games, like how in I Chose You the old Red/Ash had been in the mountains for 20 years... This is absolutely a bizarre and hilarious way to handle that continuity error, tho.
This doesn't surprise me because I've know about this of Blaine from both the anime and the manga. Though the manga is the one I remember simply because I read it when I wasn't five.
A lot of stuff happened in the Red/Blue beta versions, such as Blaine's appearence. It was technically going to be just the non-moustache version of him, but they decided to change him later on (he even had a camo outfit back then!). That was reflected to official art, which was drawn earlier than the final release, and so anime and manga had that version as well. Very interesting things have been discovered as of lately. As an example, Brock wasn't the first gym leader. That's why the first actual gym you found is closed, but is used as the final one later on the game.
I've always imagined Blaine this way, I guess because of the Pokémon adventures manga series, where he has both looks.
