Or at least played GBA games on the DS, what were some of your favorite games for the console? I'll admit, I have a lot of fond memories and a huge collection. A lot of my personal favorites include Mario and Luigi, all three Super Mario Advanced games, the Golden Sun titles, Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced (Though I still hate that judge. Oh yeah, make a rule where you can't hurt monsters in a battle where every single enemy is a monster! That's totally fair!), Minish Cap and FF6.
Pokémon (FireRed, Sapphire, Emerald, Red Rescue Team), Sonic Advance 2 and 3, Super Mario Bros Advance 3, and Dogz off the top of my head. There's certainly more, but I don't remember right now.
I would say that my favourite GBA games are definitely Golden Sun 1 & 2 (the 3rd one is a DS game), Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, Fire Emblem 7 & 8, and (formerly) the Mega Man Battle Network series - though after a while MMBN ended up losing its charm to me, so I'm not as attached to them as they used to. You may notice that the first three things I said (GS1, GS2, SSaga) are also my favourite games overall - that is definitely not a coincidence. I am very attached to those games as they have a large amount of memories attached to them - both recent and dated - and they're also the games I've replayed the most times (due in part to their age, but mostly because I love them so much). Speaking of which, I am aware the Superstar Saga remake is coming, and when I actually manage to find and acquire a copy, I will probably be very difficult to reach for several days - no prizes for guessing why.
Some of my favorites from the GBA include Pokémon (Emerald and Mystery Dungeon), Golden Sun 1 & 2 (mostly 2), Sonic Advance 3, Metroid Zero Mission and Metroid Fusion.
My favorite games on the GBA were Pokémon emerald and red rescue team. I didn't have that many GBA games when I was a kid.
Metroid Fusion. Replayed it so many times I got good enough to beat it start to finish in about an hour. Fire Emblem Sacred Stones is also one of my all time faves. My first FE game, got me hooked on the series.
I only barely remember any of the games. But Pokémon... they were fun to play and had a different kind of appeal back then. Nowadays it's just more games, for more price, but less enjoyment.
Fire Emblem: Blazing Blade Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald/FireRed/LeafGreen Professor Layton and the Curious Village (though I wish it hadn't been stolen, along with about half of my GBA library at that time) Super Mario World (first Mario title I 100%) Metroid Fusion (only one I've played outside of Metroid Prime and Prime 2) Sonic Advance (never beat it, though) Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga ... I know I had others, but it's been so long that I can't remember them... >_<
Ha, same for me. Though, I've also played this Hamtaro game on the GBA when I was little. I like hamsters, okay?
Most of my favorites have been mentioned, so I'm not sure what I can add. The whole Super Mario Advance series (particularly Yoshi's Island), Metroid Fusion and Zero Mission, Mario Kart Advance, Golden Sun, Zelda LTTP and MC, and of course all the GBA Pokemons. Well, there is one thing I can add: The Mega Man Zero series 1-4. Super tough Mega Man in a harsh atmosphere with a focus on Zero's up-close fighting mixed with X's speed, some of the coolest bosses and music of the entire Mega Man universe, and story that convinced me that Zero is the dictionary definition of badass (plus, with the conclusion of MMZ3, a theme that relates to Mewtwo's circumstances-of-one's-birth).
Not including Pokémon games, these are what I used to play the most: Advance Wars Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town Dogz 2
I'm beholding a noticeable amount of people went through the GBA days playing through Golden Sun. That pleases me immensely; I had always felt the game was rather obscure, and known only to those who were told about it or who went to look for it. I'm glad to see that might not necessarily be the case, and a fair amount of people enjoyed it almost as much as I have.
I'm surprised nobody mentioned them but I used to have loads of fun playing the Crash Bandicoot games on GBA. Pokémon, FF, Mega Man, and a few others are pretty honorable mentions as well.
You know, I got a couple more titles I really enjoy that I think deserve a mention. First off, One Piece for the GBA was surprisingly addictive. It's a solid platformer that's arguably one of the most challenging on the console. (Though that second-last level can kiss my butt! I'm already not a fan of levels where the screen moves on its own, but that was irritating. Thank god Tashigi was arguably the easiest mini-boss in the game, because if she was a genuine challenge, I would have given up finishing it) Also, I may very well be the only one who can honestly say I actually prefer Sword of Mana to Secret of Mana. (Seriously, as much as I like Secret, its combat is clunkier than I remember it being)
Yeah, even Pirates' Carnival was good. (Though to this day, I still can't win that octopus balloon mini-game. No matter how precise I am with my timing, the CPU always beats me by at least a millisecond)
Wario Land 4. Red Rescue Team was amazing too, and I poured tons of hours into playing one of the Yugioh games that were available as well as 999 hours into Sapphire somehow.
