The week flew by, with Maya practicing what school appropriate (and guitar friendly) Vivid Angel Squad songs she could, hammering out the finer points of the drama bits with Kai, practicing all of it, and then practicing it all some more just to be SURE it was the best it could be. It wasn't going to be perfect--just the best it could be, right now.

 

Once she and Robyn had discussed how they would present the song - the parts and everything, and had practiced all the choreography, Alex spent roughly about an hour every day practicing. This was the first real test of whether the club that she'd placed her hopes in to fill the loss of her old one - whether the new squad would sink or swim. And regardless of however it turned out, she would NOT let herself be the weak link.

She sent videos to her friends-and-former-clubmates for second opinions, checked her outfit to make sure everything worked, tested her headphones' workability roughly fifty times and then some, and it just kept going. The day of the performance crept ever closer, and without any chance for a major rehearsal, she had to make sure she'd done her part when the time came.

 

After everyone was dismissed, the Hansens took Tala with them for a practice session at their home. They worked on harmonizing Tala's (and Kai's) singing, Nora's violin, and Kai's piano so that everyone would get which cue for which part. That's why, prior to the whole shopping spree earlier, Kai had already told Nora that their plan B was strictly for when Tala would somehow mess up on the D-day. Until then, they needed to give the second-year a chance.

That said, they kept up the group rehearsals almost every day after school throughout the week. "Almost" because Kai also had to hammer out the finer points of the drama bits with Maya and practice his solo piano too, leaving Nora and Tala to practice on their own while Kai was busy with his other parts.

 

Behind the practice sessions with Kai at his house. School, homework and her own private session to remember the lyrics she had hardly time to visit the mall with her friends. They did keep inviting her, but she had to decline everytime. 1 actually was annoyed by it and tried to get others to go againsr Tala also. However most of them understood why Tala hardly had time and went against her again
Tala herself had to step in between one afternoon to stop the fighting. Explaining to the 1 and now few more people what was going on and why she was so busy.
However they didnt get it and just started ignoring Tala and the rest of her friends.
She sighed and was even sad that she lost them. But didnt had much time to be sad as soon the day approached and her fear came almost true when she knew there was no turning back anymore

 

Yes, the siblings were busy with their preparations for the show. But no, they didn't forget their studies either. It was still no excuse for their parents' worry whenever Kai slammed the keys on his keyboard, though Nora managed to convince them that it was a part of his act on the stage.

(Is it the D-day already?)

 

Tala.walked out of the classroom as atleast half of her friends greeted her excited. "We certainly come to watch." One of them said.
"Ah yes we will convince others to come watch alsp" they said.
Tala felt getting red. "You uh..." she tried but they kept talking.
"I uhh. I go practice a..a little" as she stormed off

Ah, backstage... Maya smiled as she arrived in the theater's backstage area. Many a fond memory of school plays...

But no, she was not here for a play this time. Her first order of business was to change into her coord, and tune up.

But then something dawned on her Wait a second--the show's in the gym! I came here out of habit!

After quickly packing up everything, she hurried for the gym...

 

Now that the lessons had ended, the Hansens wasted no time to get changed. For Nora, she was now in a yellow checkered sundress with her school blazer over it and a white ribbon for her ponytail (she hadn't changed her shoes yet). And for Kai, he now donned his school blazer over a teal T-shirt and a pair of PE trousers. If he were to take the blazer off, everyone could see a "Cool kid" and an upward arrow printed on the T-shirt's front as well as "Seriously!" printed on its back (basically kiddie Sans' T-shirt in this comic). Sounds silly, yes, but he digressed.

As soon as they got changed, Nora grabbed her violin from her locker and Kai borrowed a keyboard from the music room before making their way to the gym.

 

Changing into her coord didn't take long - Alex congratulated herself on putting together an outfit that worked well for her needs and was still comfortably casual. Once that was done, she slung her backpack in her locker (aside from a water bottle) and began towards the gym at a good jog - something to get her warmed up for the choreography, but not that it'd knock the breath out of her.

Luckily, Maya made it to the gym in the nick of time. "Sorry I'm late--went to the school theater out of habit!"

 

While the siblings were preparing their instruments (i.e. tuning the violin and hooking the keyboard up to an electric socket on the stage), Maya came with an apology for somehow getting the place wrong. "Come on, now," Kai let out a hearty laugh at this. "You do know we're not doing a school play, right?" he mused with his memory flying back to that one time when he played the fallen hero's (ex-)mentor in a school play last year.

(Yes, I'm referring to the school play 122 wrote in the fic.)

"Yes..." Maya sighed, still embarrassed for her mistake.

She pulled herself together. You're due onstage soon--don't let one mistake derail this special day! she reminded herself.

She noticed the keyboard being wired. "Once the piano's ready, I need a low E, please!" she called as she got out her guitar...

 

By then, the keyboard was ready. Kai went over to it and turned to Maya. "Low E, right?" he double-checked before pressing the aforementioned key.

Maya nodded as Kai hit the note she needed. "Thanks--once I get that string tuned, I can tune all the others."

With that, she went to work tuning. Once she was tuned, she would go change into her coord in the girls' locker rooms.

 

As they prepared for the performance, Alex made sure to do her vocal warm-ups - she would never do any singing without at least a minute of them - and also some physical warm-ups, just to make sure she wouldn't overexert anything onstage considering the choreography. And she couldn't strain her vocal cords before the final number either, she reminded herself.

Tonight, she'd get to see if her time in the club was really worth it, or if her worst fears were confirmed. Well, the club not being perfect was far from her worst fear considering the grades end had plenty of nightmares to itself, but details, details.

 

Tala had sat in the corner of the dressing for awhile. She sighed, while looking at the bag again. How could she be so stupid, she hate it herself for it.. this morning her alarm didnt go off so she sudden woke up, missed first period as she quickly changed. And grabbed the wrong bag. She had done the best she could on the blazer outfit and now having the outfit with her she recently bought with her. She would ruin the theme she had with Kai.

Hearing Robyn talk, she sudden also went into panic mode. Crawling back in the corner with her legs folder up on the bar chair that somehow hadnt lost balance the way she sat.

"Im sorry, im sorry , im sorry" she repeated to herself. Blaming herself for the outfit and whole perfomance without something even had happened
