Having swallowed his food, Blacky shared Xuehua's sentiment about this. "If I remember it right, we did get stuffs for it," he said. By "stuffs", he meant the Heavenly Yellow Shield and Perfected Golden Bracers from his and Atelier's surveying trip to the Water Dragon King's lair back in Keelford. Their very first trip there, to be exact. (Iirc Blacky still has the shield and Aine still has the bracers. That is, unless she gave it to someone else off-screen.)
Atelier could only chuckle at the morning greeting he got (and from Aine, no less too). Even so, he went over to the blacksmith to check to see if his tomes were ready. They should be open by now, right?
@122 Generation "Good morning!" the smithy smiled as he heated up the forge. "Your tomes are ready--they are on the counter over there."
@122 Generation "It's 2000 crowns for them both." the smithy replied as he took Aine's payment for an earth bow, a water bow, and a fire bow, and their materials. "Just leave the payment in the box on the counter."
After giving a word of affirmation to Blacky - "That's true, but wouldn't hurt to stock up on more" - and watching Aine and Atelier head off, Xuehua headed for the mage's guild. The Ice Dragon may not be their next target, but having an extra fire spell under her belt would help.
"Thanks very much." Atelier did as he was instructed and put the respective amount of crowns in the box. Then he collected his restored tomes. Balance: 25,300C Inventory: ?x Books and Novels, 1x Journal, 1x Strategy Book, 1x Ethereal Grimoire, 1x Middle Rune of the Moon, 1x Watera Tome (SotS), 1x Firaga Tome, 1x Lunar Tome (CdL), 1x Steel Short Sword 10x Geo Pebbles, 10x Gravelerocks, 2x Aloe Vera, 1x Perfect Apple, 1x Kettle and Cup Set Equipped: None
Now that everyone went off with their own things, Blacky quickly finished his meal and went to investigate these rumors: If he remembered it correctly, the Adamant Spires would be near Latermore and the Lost Chambers of Souls would be somewhere in the spires. That said, Blacky made his way to the Adamant Spires. Again, all alone. Without consulting anyone. (If I get it right, Atelier's paying for the tomes, Xuehua wants to add some more fire spells into her skillsets, and Blacky's investigating the rumors taking place in the Adamant Spires.)
@SAF According to rumors in the tavern, the Adamant Spires were part of the ruins near the outskirts of town. They were recognizable by a statue of Dialga guarding the entrance to a chamber. @ChocoChicken "Welcome back, hero." the archmage smiled. "How can we assist you today?
Turned out that the Adamant Spires were, indeed, not that far from Latermore. The rumor said that the weathered stone statue of a dragon lay deep within the spire, and this Dialga statue definitely wasn't the one it talked about. That said, Blacky went into the chamber guarded by the statue and started to explore it with a sword on hand.
Once Xuehua had ran through her request for a training room and maybe a few spellbooks to study, she laid out all the items for her current session on a nearby table - tomes of fire and moon, her commissioned Fire staff, the Prismatic Orb, and finally the Moon Stone she'd taken from the now-slain Dragon King's lair. She paused just before setting down the last item. Her mind drifted back to when she was still a young Eevee, trying to cast Shadow Ball over and over again, only for none of her glyphs or incantations or anything she tried to come out right, unlike the magic she'd studied on her own. Her "unwavering faith in the Kings' strength" just wasn't strong enough, Xuehua supposed, her teachers' words ringing through her head. At least that turned out to be true... Memories and stone put aside, Xuehua turned to the first spellbook and staff and sighed. Sunny Day was one thing, especially after knowing Hail and Rain Dance, but it was going to be hard to not melt herself with something like Rock Smash that put so much flame near her body.
(So basically I'm trying to sum up Blacky's adventure that was previously a series of back-and-forth RP-ing with Wave describing Blacky's surroundings. All of those posts were practically gone when the site crashed.) One pathway later, Blacky stumbled into a mural depicting a lot of flowers with a sword and a shield somehow slipped between the flowers. Totally contrasting its reputation of "a very deep work of art". Normally most people would consider this point as a dead end. Not for Blacky, however. At first he considered to try pulling a Bede by destroying the mural altogether, but nah. Not worth the destruction. Instead, the Umbreon put a free paw on the mural and moved it along... until it reached the tip of the sword drawing that effectively opening up another long pathway behind the mural. So Blacky kept walking and walking, all while staying wary of his surroundings. Deep down he was a little spooked by the possibility of getting ambushed coupled by the fact that he didn't tell anyone where he's going -- not even Xuehua who had left the inn before him. Thankfully though, no ambushes here either. At least until he found a pair of statues of the twin wolves -- the Hero's Sword, Zacian, and the Guardian Shield, Zamazenta. People often mistook these statues as that of a dragon because it was even darker inside, hence the rumor ("The weathered stone statue of a dragon lies deep within the Adamant Spires.") that turned out to be half-correct. Again, not a problem for Blacky, for his powerful night vision as an Umbreon immensely helped him to see in the dark. Just what in the Distortion World are they doing here? I mean, is this a secret shrine or something? As a swordsmon himself, Blacky paid his respect to the twin wolves statues per his wild guess of a "secret shrine" before leaving the spires. He might as well save the "lost princess" rumor for when the group would arrive at Piquedilly.
@WavePearl @122 Generation @ChocoChicken And now Blacky's already back to the town. He went to a local tavern for a break. And rumors too, if there were any.
@SAF Aine was present, playing music for the patrons. She smiled and acknowledged Blacky with a nod, then continued the Zacian ballad she was performing.
Atelier had also arrived at the tavern for a break. Now with his restored tomes, which had become more powerful but hadn't changed in durability, he took a seat and watched Aine perform.
@122 Generation Aine's voice was easily heard over conversation and the clatter of dishes and glasses in the kitchen. For now, she was lost in a ballad telling of the Hero's Sword Zacian battling dragons, monsters, greedy nobles and kings, and more
