Apparently Blacky was the first one to dib a breakfast, followed by Xuehua, Atelier, and finally Aine. He returned everyone's greetings right when they came in (and thanked Atelier for the coffee while at it) and went on to finish his breakfast. (Actually, I haven't even planned on what the Sol lair might look like. So let's just skip to Ludester.)
Atelier waved at Aine. After all greetings were done with, he began eating after Blacky had started on his. He was more than happy to fill Blacky's cup with more coffee if he needed it. Other than that, it seemed everyone was able to get the energy they needed to face the day. Today, they were back on the road again. He quietly continued reading his novel as he sipped his coffee.
@WavePearl @ChocoChicken @122 Generation (One quick time skip coming up~) One Song of the Wind to Kickenham and more walking to the northeast later, the ragtag bunch of Eeveelutions arrived at the snowy town of Ludester. Blacky, for one, tried oh-so-hard not to visibly shiver in front of his friends even though deep down he regretted not grabbing some winter clothes (especially for his non-ice type allies) back home. Then again, they were mostly Eevee-sized which Blacky had already outgrown anyway. That said, the warmth inside a tavern (Noble Mare or otherwise) would be nice to have after quite a trip. (Could the Noble Mare, perhaps, be this RP's version of Bob's Your Uncle? )
@SAF (Yes--the tavern makes a reference to the legendary Ponyta Epona in my wider Poke-verse, who in Galar is seen as a Galarian Ponyta)
It was fortunate that Atelier had continued wearing his cloak throughout the whole journey to date. Although it would give him some protection from the cold, it wouldn't keep him warm forever. "I suppose we should get some shelter for now," Atelier said. The climate was a far cry from Piquedilly, that was for sure.
Unlike the boys and maybe Aine, Xuehua stood tall against the cold. If anything, maybe she found the chill invigorating - though it was definitely partially owed to her typing. Well, she hoped she'd made it clear to the climate that no weather was going to get in the way of her and her allies' mission.
@SAF @122 Generation @ChocoChicken Luckily for the group, the Noble Mare was easy to find from the city square. The sign depicting a Galarian Ponyta rearing was one obvious clue.
The sight of the tavern was a welcome one for Atelier. Even though he hadn't journeyed for long today, he was already feeling the need for lunch and shelter. He turned to his companions, seeing that Blacky was trying to hold back from shivering. Unsurprisingly, Xuehua was taking the cold in stride.
@122 Generation Even Aine was shivering--her ribbons jingled as a burst of cold wind swirled around her. What she would give for a hot meal at the moment...
Thank Arceus for the tavern's presence. Blacky soon made a beeline to that one tavern with Galarian Ponyta as its mascot (i.e. the Noble Mare) at the prospect of lunch, indoor warmth, and (maybe) some tavern rumours.
Like Blacky, Atelier was also interested in potential rumours that might circulate in the tavern. He walked in after Blacky and immediately felt the relief of the warmth of indoors, with its source coming from a roaring furnace, if not two, plus the fires from the kitchens.
After being so used to the cold, however, it actually took Xuehua a minute to adjust to the heat again. For a few moments she'd become quite afraid she'd melt, but then had to remind her body that yes, they had entered and exited both Steamington and its volcano, they were not going to lose to some inn and restaurant.
@SAF @122 Generation @ChocoChicken A waitress soon arrived with menus for the party. "What drinks can I get for you?" she asked.
Atelier raised his eyes at Xuehua, noticing she looked like she was sweating. "Um... Are you okay?" he asked her. "Need something cold?" To the waitress, he ordered something hot instead. "I'll have a hot cocoa with extra milk and cream."
Like Atelier, Blacky was worried about Xuehua too -- specifically whether the tavern was too hot to her liking. Then again, she seemed pretty rejuvenated out there in the snow. No wonder a lot of ice-types would call Ludester home. But seeing Atelier already taking care of it, Blacky went ahead to make an order. "Espresso hot chocolate, please," he told the waitress.
"I'll be fine - we all faced worse about a week ago," Xuehua insisted. "Though I guess I'd like to order a glass of water, or something similar...?" Dang it, Xuehua! There's nothing 'similar' to water!
"I... I see," Atelier replied to Xuehua, still concerned for her. She must really have a liking to cold climates. Or rather, maybe the shock of immediate transfer from cold to hot was also something she wasn't used to. "I mean, I could buy you a smoothie or something if you'd like... but if you prefer something similar to water, that's fine too," he added, taking a lighthearted stab at Xuehua's hasty and dynamic mind.
