@ChocoChicken @WavePearl (Now, shall we move on already?) One quick trip to the town square later, the pair of Eeveelutions managed to spot the wooden statue. A brief comparation with the picture they got from the guildmistress revealed that the real statue missed something over its head. With that in mind, Blacky tried to fit the wooden crown thingy on the statue...
@SAF Amazingly enough, the crown fit perfectly! At first, nothing seemed to happen, before a soft greenish light filled the air...
Atelier, who had been standing nearby, had watched Blacky put the crown on. Wait. Was that light emanating from the statue…?
Yep, the crown fit perfectly, though Blacky had to step back upon seeing a soft greenish light shining from it. Oh Arceus, whatever's gonna happen now?
@SAF @122 Generation Aine saw the light and hurried outside. Could it be? Calyrex has been sleeping in that statue the whole time?
Xuehua raised an arm to block the light - and with her other arm, prepared one of her staves again, not particularly looking for which one it was. In the distance, she spotted Aine rushing over as well. That was good - the Sylveon among them was the one most attuned to the divine, and she was the one they could trust most to tell real from fake.
@SAF @122 Generation @ChocoChicken The light faded to reveal a white deer-like Pokémon with a bushy leaf "crown". "By Arceus...it IS Calyrex!" Aine gasped.
Yeah, that was the King of Bountiful Harvests that the legends spoke of. Looking around, Blacky could see Xuehua readying a staff and Aine already outside -- not sure whether Atelier's out too. It took awhile for the Umbreon to register what just happened (though not as long as that one time when he first met Shaymin) before bowing down to the deer-like Pokémon before him. "Lord Calyrex," Blacky said whilst kneeling. "How may I be of your service?"
@SAF Greetings, travelers. Calyrex "replies" in your mind. I would welcome you with all the honor due you, but you see now the frozen state of my realm. A dragon is behind this most heinous deed, and now I must ask your help to slay it, and restore my realm to its rightful glory.
Okaaay? I mean, isn't that what we're here for? the Umbreon mentally mused. But that alone wasn't enough -- the problem of "how to even get to the dragon's den" still remained. "By your realm, is it, perchance, north from here?" Or no? he asked just to make sure instead.
@SAF Calyrex confirms your suspicions. You speak the truth. Are you prepared to face the dragon now, or do you need time to prepare?
@WavePearl @ChocoChicken @122 Generation Wait a minute, were they ready for the big boss right away? Blacky wasn't that sure honestly. So in response to Calyrex's question, he only stood up and turned to his allies with a "You guys ready?" look on his face.
Xuehua paused, checking the expressions of her teammates. Aine's hopeful, Blacky's... a little more apprehensive. Then Atelier, who was still a distance away, and she couldn't actually make out his expression. Had he finished his plans? Had any of them...? She swallowed. "Perhaps we could take a minute or two to regroup first, just to make sure."
@ChocoChicken @SAF @122 Generation Aine nodded. "It's always a good idea to go into battle with a plan." If you need time to prepare, meet me in this place when you are ready. Calyrex replied before becoming the statue again.
@122 Generation "Understood," Blacky mumbled as Calyrex turned back into a statue. With that out of the way (for now), he and the girls really needed to check again with the resident tactician... who may or may not caught up with them by then.
It appeared that things had happened too quickly for Atelier. There appeared a being he had never seen before, certainly not in his homeland. After the interaction between Atelier's companions and the being, Atelier stepped forward to regroup. "H-hey..." he greeted them. "What just happened here? Who was that? Did you find anything?" It seemed like Atelier had a dozen questions in his mind (or at least that was what it felt like to him).
Yeah, Atelier had just missed out on a lot of things. Blacky knew that it's time to (hopefully) satiate his sheer curiosity. "Long story short, we just met Calyrex..." the warrior explained. He then turned to the statue and added, "...'cause the crown thingy's now right where it belongs."
