Group RP Pokemon: Evolution Quest (IC thread)

“Oh, that’s okay,” Atelier replied. “I’m looking for anyone who could figure what to do with this materia. Doesn’t seem useful in its current state,” he said, while bringing out the green orb to show. “Oh, and if someone could tell me more about this tome, I’d appreciate it.”

 

(Now I'm not sure who's in which guild anymore...)

Uh... quests? That's not quite what the trio (or quartet if Atelier tagged along) was looking for. "I'm sure you've already heard about the felled Dragon Kings, right?" Celine explained to the one they'd met at the guild. "But there are still two remaining and we're gonna deal with the one at Spikeford soon." Archen nodded at the way Celine reworded Xuehua's request from the other day.

"Problem is, Spikeford people won't like us hunting their dragon overlord down, so we need help to deal with them," Blacky added. "Will you assist us?"

 

"Thank you," Celine smiled at the archmage. That's one more guild willing to help, yes.

And now the archmage asked for something specific. Recalling Sammi's suggestion, Blacky asked, "Do you know the Radiant Sky Sect, by the way? We need their aerial support too."

 

Meanwhile, Atelier thanked the Clefable archmage and thought about looking for any other archmage who could help him further inspect this materia. Not that it was useful in its current state, so something had to be done about it. Else, he could just sell the materia.

Then he was reminded of the Brynhildr tome in his possession. "One more thing. Could you tell me anything about this tome and its abilities?"

 

Blacky and co.

Despite the archmage's assurance, the trio wasn't entirely convinced. Not until they actually got to meet either the one in charge of the sect itself (Master Tsubasa, presumably) or someone from the sect who happened to be a part of the Golden Sakura guild. Having somewhat gained confidence after letting both Celine and Blacky do most of the talking, Archen spoke up, "And where's the sect based at?"

(Spoiler (?) : The Order of the Golden Sakura is made up of martial artists from a variety of noble and noble neutral schools--including the Radiant Sky. Wave's idea, not mine.)

(For the record, Brynhildr is technically a grass-dark tome. I'd imagine it has at least root-based moves like Frenzy Plant and Ingrain, though what abilities it actually has is up to y'all.)

 

"Oh? Are they here now?" Blacky and Archen could've sworn they saw stars in Celine's eyes. And yes, she defaulted to "they/them" for referring to Master Tsubasa whom she'd never met before.

"Aw, okay--" Celine's ears drooped and the stars in her eyes dimmed. Blacky led the Fennekin out of the guild with Archen thanking the archmage on their behalf.

Back outside, the trio planned to visit the Order of the Bright Harp. Blacky wanted to take Aine along since it was a minstrel's guild only to be discouraged by the Expedition Society members ("Are you sure she's done with the letter?" Archen dubiously asked). So after a little bit of arguing, they decided to check on the resident minstrel first.

Mawile

Meanwhile, during Mawile's excursion, she found a book about Dynamax. It somehow reminded her of the past accounts on the Sol Dragon King which she had previously read (or in one case, which she had heard from the survivor himself), for a lot of them had said that the Sol Dragon King had some of his minions Dynamaxed. The historian began to read the book in case there's something her allies could use...

 

Atelier had politely declined the archmage's suggestion to part with the tome, seeing that there was no benefit in giving it away. Maybe he would have better luck asking someone else what to do about the materia. Was there a forge somewhere in the hall that he could use? Or at least something where he could do some kind of fusing.

 

Back at the inn, Sir Josson and Chief Ampharos could be seen talking about random stuff. They did help Aine with starting the letter, though once she looked like she could manage the thing, they relegated to occasional check-ups.

"We're ba-a-a-a-ack!" Celine's voice rang across the inn's lobby upon her group's entrance, causing Josson to nearly choke on his ale. "Oh, welcome back, guys. What did you find?" Chief Ampharos greeted the returning trio as Blacky quickly rushed to his master's aid ("I'm okay..." he quietly assured him). Celine and Archen proceeded to report on the Golden Sakura's agreement to lend their aid and the Radiant Sky's whereabouts. "The highland cliffs, you say? Then that's where we're going next!" Chief Ampharos immediately declared, much to the chagrin of everyone present because not everyone was even there yet.

The Umbreon, meanwhile, took a sneak peek at Aine's letter after returning his liege's sword.

 

(As much as he could logically see from right behind Aine.)

"...and we're gonna visit the Bright Harp guild after this, so..." all eyes were on Blacky just when he was squinting at Aine's letter. "Huh? I-- what???" poor Umbreon stuttered as soon as he realized this.

"Come on, Blacky. It's your idea, right?" Celine deviously prodded him big time. That, and a pat on the shoulder from the older Jolteon made him want to huddle in a corner.
