Group RP Pokemon: Evolution Quest (IC thread)

Unfortunately for Blacky, all he had was a general map of Ardamore with neither the Lost Chamber of Souls nor the Cathedral of Eternal Light listed anywhere in there. Only the Adamant Spires was listed close to Latermore. I prolly should ask Garma to check them out for us... he sighed in defeat.

 

"Well, I suppose we can note that down for later. For now, anything else on the current situation at hand? You know. Fire King. Giant lava lair."

 

Atelier could sense the unease in Xuehua's voice. 'Fire King' and 'giant lava lair' clearly did not suit the ice type. "As far as the lava lake is concerned, the lava can spill out of the pit pretty quickly. It's best to make use of the treasure rooms as cover. The bottom line is, we have to make the descent down to the lake from the outside. Any way of cooling us down, though, would be of great help."

 

Atelier smiled humourlessly, as if his mouth were a thin line. "The best chance doesn't take long to arrive. The lava rescinds quickly to the lake and it doesn't take long before any leftover lava on the surface hardens to rock. But if we do engage the Dragon King, we'll need to keep an eye out for the lava, and take cover in a treasure room when the lava rises.

"Plus, we'll have to break out of the treasure room too. Otherwise, we'd suffocate."

 

Listening intently, Blacky raised an eyebrow when Atelier mentioned "breaking out of the treasure room". "So that's why you asked about breaking rocks, huh?" he mused.

 

Atelier nodded sheepishly. "The lava will cool fast enough to harden to rock, and once that happens, it will be safe to leave the room. Then we can continue engaging the Dragon King. That said, it seems Lady Aine will take care of the rock smashing."

 

One trip down the memory lane later, Blacky couldn't help but to ask his Eevee friend, "Now that you've seen the lava lair yourself... any change of plans?"

 

“Not too much… although one thing I’ll say is that if we had rain, it would help cool us the further we go down. And also better we keep attacking from near a treasure room so we can retreat. That lava isn’t going to play nice,” Atelier said.

He looked to his companions again. “Other than that, I think we’re prepared to attack, unless we have any other questions.”

 

(Planning-wise, I believe we're done here. But Blacky still has a business with his Gengar friend, Garma.)

Just when Blacky was about to nod, he felt a weird kind of cold crawling on his back. There's no way it was Xuehua, so...

(And yes, that's Garma.)

 

Atelier jolted a little bit, not expecting the chilly presence of the Gengar to appear again.

 

"Whoa there!" Blacky laughed at the weirdly pleasant surprise. He kinda planned to meet Garma at the adventurer's guild, but eh. Might as well spill the beans right there in the tavern.

"Actually, yeah," the Umbreon admitted as soon as his laughter died down. "Do you know the Lost Chamber of Souls and the Cathedral of Eternal Light? We've heard some rumours taking place there."

 

"A princess in the Lost Chambers of Souls, ghouls in the crypts beneath the Cathedral of Eternal Light, a dragon statue deep in the Adamant Spires... wait," Blacky recounted what Aine had told the group only for him to remember that he hadn't mentioned the Adamant Spires yet.

 

Atelier raised some question marks over what benefits would come from the rumours, but if it meant getting some help investigating them from the Gengar, he wouldn't complain. He waited for what Garma would say.

 

Xuehua didn't expect the Gengar either, but seeing as Blacky had already made an ally out of him, she kept her staff where it was. And they were going soon? She hadn't QUITE learned Rain Dance... Suppose she knew enough, at least.

 

"Piquedilly, huh?" Blacky mused as he took a mental note about this kidnapped princess of Piquedilly. "...noted. Will check it out when we get there," he continued with a wink. For now, that fiery dragon comes first.
