@SAF @Ignem (Good catch!) "Thank you..." the girl smiled as she helped herself to the curry still simmering over the fire. "I wanted to research more about martial arts and its influence in ancient Shinou."
Marissa only could respond with an "O-oh..." at Dawn's sudden (and possibly unrelated) input. But deep down she's still mulling over what Cobalt just said: Mega Evolution... is it really that taxing? she thought, all while hoping to see the Mega Evolution in action.
@SAF @Ignem "Satomi, come on out!" Dawn summons a Gardevoir. Yes? the Gardevoir asks. "Is it okay if I can induce you? I don't think anyone in Galar has ever seen Mega Evolution before..." Dawn asks.
"Oh?" Marissa perked up at the mention of Mega Evolution. "Yes, please!" she eagerly nodded. Now that there are two versions of Mega Evolution, which one would Dawn use...? (Doing that for the sake of narration, so an in-character answer should do.)
@SAF Dawn held her hand skyward. Leishu shun ji, lei si... The opal ring on her finger glowed, engulfing Satomi in a bright white light with rainbow tinges...
Gasping at the Gardevoir's transformation, Marissa deduced that this must be the "song in the trainer's heart" variant of Mega Evolution. She kept her eyes peeled on what this might become. (Speaking of, does the song have to be in some sort of in-universe ancient language? Or can it be of any language?)
@SAF (It's actually a transformation incantation from the anime "Symphogear", adapted for the Pokémon world. I have a few magical incantation generators to get something in that style.) Spoiler: The actual transformation
Cobalt knew what the Gardevoir is going to transform into. But it is still pretty surprising to see mega evolution since very less few people have it.
@SAF @Ignem Victor and Gloria watched as Satomi emerged as Mega Gardevoir. "Wow!" Gloria gasped. "I can only dream of what that would look like Dynamaxed..." Victor was just as stunned. "If that were even possible..."
By the time the light dissipated, Satomi emerged as a Gardevoir who looked like they're wearing a pimped-up, uh, wedding dress. Really, that was Marissa's first impression upon seeing a Mega Gardevoir for the first time. (I kinda wanna assume that Satomi is a female, but Gardevoir can also be male, so...)
@SAF (Satomi is a girl, yes--the name can mean "wisdom". She effectively replaces Mamoswine in my remix series, acting as Dawn's confidante and mentor)
As for Victor's remark, Marissa couldn't help but to imagine a giant Satomi in her Mega-Evolved form. That would've been way too overpowered, yeah.
"I am not sure if anyone has tried to dynamax a mega evolved Pokémon, " Cobalt said. He has not even seen a dynamax Pokémon yet.
(Okie~) "Eh, who knows?" Marissa just shrugged. "It's gonna be even more powerful than Eternatus anyway."
@SAF @Ignem (Move on to the next day? Victor and Gloria will go their separate ways, but Dawn will stay with you guys for a while)
Yep, turned out that it got pretty late in the night. "Ah, right. G'night, guys," Marissa bade a goodnight upon realizing that. She put both Sniper and Xenon back into their Pokeballs, then went into her tent.
@SAF @Ignem The night passed peacefully for the group. But little did anyone know of the harrowing encounter coming the next day...
