@SAF "Epona recognized her master’s voice, and whinnying with joy, happily ate all the hay. The news was talked about from one end of the palace to the other, and the sick king summoned the boy to his presence." Brock narrates. “I hear you have made Epona eat." he explains in the role of the king. "Do you think you could make Moltres sing? She droops her wings, and will neither eat nor drink. If she dies, I will die too.” “Your majesty may rest assured, the bird will not die. I know a way to have her sing her healing song." Ash replies in character as the disguised prince.
Again, Alvin tilted his head with an "Uh... okay?" expression. But deep down there was one more thing bothering him: Moltres being referred to as "her". As far as he knew, Moltres is technically genderless. Or... was it simply a form of narration in this world's folktales?
@SAF Misty noticed Alvin's confused look. "Moltres is typically considered female in lore." she explained. "But some believe they are whatever gender you'd like."
@SAF "The king ordered the finest food brought, and the disguised prince put a handful into Moltres’s cage, saying..." Brock narrates. “Cheer up, Moltres--your master is home.” Ash fills in the hero's dialogue.
As much as Alvin wanted to mull over stuffs in his mind, that had to wait. For now, the story came first.
@SAF "As soon as Moltres heard her master’s voice she shook her feathers, making her feathers shine brighter than ever." Brock went on. "She danced in her cage, and sang so beautifully, the king was immediately healed, and it was as if a great weight had been lifted off his heart. Moltres again burst into song..." Gatrandis favel, secret, edena.... Misty fills in the song. Emusto ronzen fine el balaziis... Katoradis favel siicletu edena... Emusto koron zen fine, si... Applause went up at this--even though the song was actually a magical spell, there were some--the group included--who could safely sing it for show.
Even though the song's language was completely foreign to both Alvin and Libero, they digressed it anyway. The two joined in the crowd's applause as the song was finished.
@SAF (The song is a very powerful divine spell in universe--but some storytellers can sing it for show without any side effects.)
(Again, I'm keeping in mind about Alvin's total unfamiliarity to the world he's currently in when I made that narration. This means he clearly has no idea that the song is supposed to be a spell, let alone a divine one.)
@SAF (That's fair--he will eventually see just how powerful it is at some point.) "This so moved the king that he jumped from bed, and embraced the disguised prince out of sheer euphoria and gratitude." Brock went on. “Now, teach me how to heal this beautiful maiden my sons brought back with them; she will not speak a word, her beautiful hair remains uncared for, and her tears fall night and day.” he pleads as the king. “If Your Majesty will allow me to say a few words to her, it may be the means of making her happy again.” Ash replies as the hero.
Yep, it's yet another round of "will they or won't they" situation. Alvin just hoped it wouldn't drag on for too long.
@SAF Brock narrates "The king led the way to her apartments, and the disguised prince, taking her hand, said..." “Grieve no more, Christine--your rightful groom is home.” Ash fills in the hero's dialogue. "Christine knew him right away, and with a cry of joy threw herself into his arms." Brock went on over a joyful chord. "This astonished the king, and he could not for the life of him think how a stable boy could address a princess as his 'dear bride.'" He explains "Prince Brian then revealed himself to his father, and told him the truth. Christine in turn told how the wicked brothers had threatened to kill her if she betrayed them. As for the brothers, they shook from head to toe, and trembled like leaves in the wind. The furious king ordered them banished from the land for lying to him, never to return on pain of death." He concludes "And so, Prince Brian married the beautiful Christine, and the king gave him half of his kingdom as a wedding present. When the time came for the old king to join Arceus in heaven, Prince Brian ascended to the throne, and lived happily with his beloved Christine for many years." "Aw"s and applause fill the inn as the group takes a bow...
Alvin joined the "Aw"s' crowd and Libero applauded with a "Yay~" in Pokémon language. Heck, the latter even did a standing applause regardless of the rest of the audience.
@SAF Misty stretched as many in the common room chose to return to their rooms for the night. "No matter how many times you four perform that tale, it never gets old." a traveler raved.
Say what now? Alvin's ears twitched at the random traveler's raving. He was about to say something when Libero poked his shoulder. "Can't believe your ears, huh?" the Cinderace signed, to which Alvin promptly nodded. "Yeah. Didn't expect PewterSong to be a storyteller here," he sheepishly admitted. By "PewterSong", he meant Brock, mainly because Alvin only knew his home world's Brock as such.
@SAF "Who is this 'PewterSong'?" Misty wondered. "Is he someone like me in your home world?" Brock was interested too.
Welp, another round of Q&A about the multiverse ensued. "Well, yeah..." Alvin rubbed the back of his head. "The Brock in my home world is also known as PewterSong. It's basically like how I'm known as RedAce," he explained, albeit still not sure on how to explain the online stuffs from his home world to them.
