(Perhaps... gotta ask everyone for general explanation. More details can wait until Alvin finds out his chi potential.)
@SAF "Basically, all chi is is the mystical energy of the world." Ash explains. "You could also call it aura, or magical energy." "Since chi is in all things, it comes in a variety of different colors." Misty went on. "But in it's purest form, it looks blue-white. This is typically what you see Lucario and their cub form Riolu slinging.
"Aura, huh?" Alvin wondered for a little bit. "Since the merchant earlier had some potions for replenishing chi, does it mean we humans have it too?"
@SAF "Everyone and everything has chi inside them." Brock explains. "It depends on if you can sense it or not. Those that can sense it, can channel it into something like magic.
Turning to Brock, Alvin tilted his head. "Like the stuff you did the other day?" he asked, referring to the instant outfit change he got yesterday.
@SAF Brock nodded. "That is just one of millions of spells I have learned. It wasn't easy mastering all the colors of chi, either."
That being said, Alvin wondered what his color of chi is. That is, if he even has one to begin with. (Doing that for the sake of narration since I did mention Alvin's red chi potential but he hasn't realized it yet.)
@SAF "If you want, I can try to read if you have any chi you could manipulate." Brock offers. "If you do, we can help you train that potential."
"Really?" Alvin flinched, not sure if he heard Brock's offer right. "Actually, I've been curious anyway, so... why not?" he accepted it.
@SAF "All right...this isn't going to hurt, and just takes a minute or two..." Brock assured Alvin. He next laid his hands on Alvin's chest. Imultaos, ame no hao bakezo... A bright light shone forth from Alvin's body, allowing Brock to see the chi inside. "Okay...I mainly see bright red chi, but there's some dim yellow and white chi here, too." (red=fire; his innate power, so it is the strongest yellow=thunder; powers are related white-light; powers are related and his bond with Marissa)
Knowing what's going on, Libero backed off as Brock came closer to Alvin. And the chi checking begun... "Red... yellow... white..." Alvin muttered. "These colors of chi... what elements are they?" he asked. (Okay, I get red and yellow, but white too? :/ )
@SAF "Red is fire chi." Ash explained. "By extension, some fire users also gain thunder powers, since the two powers are related." "White chi is light..." Brock went on. "The fire and thunder connection is understandable, but I'm wondering where this color came from--a bond with someone, maybe?"
Speaking of fire, Alvin instinctively looked at Libero. I mean, Cinderace is fire type, so he should be able to help him develop his fire powers, right? Same goes for Rockman the Amped Toxtricity, who hopefully could help Alvin developing his thunder powers. As for light, well... "Hmm..." the redhead boy thought for a moment. While he did mention Marissa's name several times during his stay in the group's basecamp, he never thought that it could be the source of his white chi somehow. "Did you guys hear me mentioning 'sis Marissa' several times?" Alvin asked the group, then went on with a (seemingly) random confessional: "We're twins, actually."
@SAF A smile formed on Brock's face when he heard that Alvin had a twin sister. "Then that explains the white chi perfectly! Your bond with your sister manifests as the purest light."
"Somehow, yeah," Alvin remarked, placing his hands over his head. Never did he expect that what sounded mundane to him turned out to be a big deal here.
