Did You Name A Pokemon After Something?

Pumpking was named after an enemy from Terraria. I haven't played Terraria in years, but that's the first thing that came to mind.

 

Well I named this clauncher Howard because the word for lobster in French is “homard” sounds similar to the name Howard... wait Clauncher is a shrimp. Oops

 

I just named this shiny Trapinch Butter after @Butternut cause it was his only shiny that he missed.

 

I have a Shaymin (Sky) that I named Hoverboots after StarlightNexus-Chan's own Shaymin of the same kind and name... I thought it was funny at first, but now I think it's just me being weird again.

 

Huuh- no, I love shiny Flygon :0

 

I named my Hippopotas "Seahorse Teeth" after a catchphrase coined by two of my favorite podcasters (I was hoping someone, anyone would catch the inside joke without me leading into it, but alas). They actually used used the phrase in yesterday's episode and there briefly reiterated its origin story from an episode two and a half months ago, which actually ties in directly to some fun trivia about George Washington. Who knew that Hippowdon, George Washington, and poor misunderstood seahorses were all connected.

 

I named my freshly caught Lapras "Lapis Lazuli" because it's blue and in SU Lapis has water powers.

 

My Cupidueye is named Twiggy because I have a pink owl keychain that happens to look a lot like Lovebird

And the name on its tag is Twiggy

 

Prinplup is named Rad for obvious reasons

 

Dusty is one of my go-to names for ground types. I may change it later if I think of something more creative.

 

I named this marill after the first marill that I had in Sapphire when I was a kid and for some reason couldn't release when I tried.

 

Shiny Nincada is named Russell because I was thinking of naming him Rusty, then I decided on Russell

Stantler named "nice palette tho" is pretty obvious
Meltqn nqmed Meltwo becquse it was my second one
Tympole named Polly because it sounded like its name I guess
Foongus named master ball because it's purple
Drilbur named Billy for no particular reason again
Dwebble named cooked because it does look very red
Sandstorm Vivillon named Darude from... well, the meme
Slugma named Tokarewa because that's how I named mine in-game
Charmander named Roham... I don't remember tbh

 

I named my Winter Deerling Braun to continue my "Deerling with the German translation of their color as their name" series!
