It's been two years. The leaders of Teams Magma and Aqua, Maxie and Archie, have parted ways. The team's admins, lost without their leaders and unsure why they were abandoned, have taken charge and have strangely decided to work together for a common goal. Their schemes have been relatively under wraps as of late, but various sightings of familiar uniformed henchmen have been reported recently. Meanwhile, the destruction of the meteor that had threatened the region has left countless meteorite crash sites across the region. Mega Key Stones were quickly mined from the sites, and special Mega Stones have been found across Hoenn, hypothesized to have been influenced by the event. This has brought about an immense number of tourists from other regions to a scale that Hoenn has never seen before. This event, along with the meteorite's odd energy changing the environment has come an influx of Pokémon not normally found in the Hoenn region. Professor Birch, expert in Pokémon environments, is taking the initiative to research these changes and what they will mean for the Hoenn region. but he needs the help of new and curious trainers. In exchange for a Pokédex and sponsorship, Professor Birch and his research team asks for your help in documenting the various Pokémon in the area. Your Pokédex includes a camera and video recorder, as well as the information on foreign Pokémon via the information from other professors in remote regions. Gather data and help Professor Birch in his research in how the Hoenn region will inevitably change!




Mechanics:

Pokémon encounters:
-You have the freedom to choose your own encounters based off of the set encounters displayed for that area.
-You may only have one caught Pokémon per area unless otherwise noted. Choose wisely.
-You choose if you battle it or catch it. But please put effort into your posts.
-Each person may choose ONE shiny encounter out of the set encounters. Please talk to a GM first before making the post. Shiny Pokémon may appear in later quests, but will be very rare. Choose wisely, as you only get one choice during the entire rp.

Battles:
-Battles can be fully RPed or done through Pokémon Showdown.
-If done through Pokémon Showdown, you must keep a record of the match via a link that must be on your post. An example can be found here
-Any move done and anything said within the battle/chat must be RPed. An example of an Rp battle can be found here. And the resulting rp summary can be found here.
-Record any and all complete battles in your battle log. Links to the individual post are preferred as well. This is used to show when your Pokémon can evolve or learn new moves.
-Certain major battles, such as with gym leaders, can be counted as 2 or more battles per Pokémon that participates, depending on the GM's instructions.
-I will just check individual number of battles of each Pokémon, and how much they participated to determine average level. Additionally, Pokémon that you have just met will not be able to evolve immediately, even if they were caught at the right level. Think of it as a need to connect first.

Gym/Event Battles:
-Special rules or limitations can be put on these kinds of battles such as the opponent having a team that is a set number of levels higher than your own.
You will be informed of the details before the challenge the battle.

New Moves: To speed things up, new moves can be learned every full 5 battles that Pokémon participates in (each battle must have its own post), provided that your Pokémon achieved the minimum level requirement. If your Pokémon learns multiple attacks at the same level, they can just learn them all at once.
-for a Pokémon to have counted in a battle, they have to actually battle. immediate switch ins do not count.
-Showdown battles do count as battles towards evolution and new moves. Just dont abuse it please.
-New moves should take at least 2-3 posts to learn.
-Your Pokémon can keep and use any move it has learned throughout the journey without forgetting them. However Showdown battles are restricted to a choice of 4 moves. So choose wisely.

Evolution:
You may actually evolve your Pokémon without speaking to a mod if:
1. You possess the appropriate stone
2. You trade it with a fellow player or mod controlled npc (with applicable item)
3. You meet the minimum friendship requirement in units of battles
4. Your Pokémon just needs to evolve at a specific location

You should speak to a mod if
1. Your Pokémon evolves purely on levels
2. Your Pokémon evolves from learning a move and leveling

Friendship evolution: A Pokémon that requires friendship to evolve can evolve after 15 (full) battles or 10 with a soothe bell, provided that they met their other normal requirements (items, time of day, ect) . Friendship berries can also shorten the time by one battle each.
Mega Evolution:
-For mega evolution to occur, the trainer must have a keystone for themselves and a mega stone for their Pokémon. Additionally, the bond between the Pokémon and trainer must be at its peak, meaning that max friendship is required.
-Only one mega stone may be found by each trainer, however through gifts and exchanges with other characters, multiple megastones may be obtained by a single character.

Pokémon Catches:
-You can choose your Pokémon's nature and backstory, provided that it doesnt affect the story.
-The nature of Pokémon are subject to change upon evolution. (like the anime) A timid caterpie may evolve into an adamant metapod. you have control over this.

Pokémon Abilities:
-As long as they don't contradict each other, a Pokémon may have both its primary and secondary ability or its DW ability. However, as with move slots, only one can be picked for Showdown battles.

Pokémon contests:
-Will be RPed as normal. RP representatives or all participating RPers will judge the contest and vote on a winner.

Quests:
-"Quests" are scenarios given for each area.
-They each come with their own reward.
-Unless otherwise noted, only one character may do a request. please claim it in the OOC thread. Claimed requests can only be done by the person who claimed them, unless 1 week has passed since they claimed it. After 1 week, if no post has been made, another person may claim it.
-You may try as many quests as you want, provided no one else has claimed them.
-Quests only give you the scenario. They are open to interpretation and you may rp them as you wish, even giving yourself the reward.
-Please take them seriously and write a sufficient amount.

1) You will have to see.
2) There is a chance that shows of affection or maybe a death may be included and I was just being careful. Your trainer can be any age.
3) Newbie trainer. Everyone is just starting. But since Trainer Schools are canon, your character can be knowledgable.
4) Nope. Base form. But it can be a psuedo legend line. Just keep in mind that your starter will take forever to evolve.
5) Nope. Starting fresh. Though your starter is base level (let's say 5), it can have been your friend for years, or came from a parent, or whatever. Just nothing crazy like a mew gave you your starter egg.

 

Anyone can be a new trainer. You can have an elderly character if you want.

It's just preferred that your character is a teen to young adult.

 

Syrus (Sai) Meyer

Appearance/Personality:
Syrus is 5'5" and relatively skinny. He has short brown hair that barely covers his ears. The lower half of his hair is dyed a light pink that lightens as it moves back to his natural brown color. He has a birthmark mole on his left eye. Syrus often wears slightly baggy clothing including a light blue shirt that he frequently wears. He enjoys clothing that covers his carries around a backpack with a surprising amount of space for its size and a belt to hold pokeballs that pulls more to the back instead of the side. He has a small pink diamond hanging from his belt loop that he puts around his neck during battle. He doesn't know if it is real or not, but he is infatuated by it. When he wants to be alone, he wears a black skull hoodie that he inherited from...someone, and closes it around his face.

History:
Syrus grew up in Laverre City. The mystic and historical ambiance along with the elegance of the gym leader really shaped Syrus' personality. Seeing such a strong and beautiful gym leader combine such seemingly conflicting traits lead Sai to want to do the same. He tried entering competitions to show off his Pokémon, but was always turned away for being male, as only women and girls could enter. He was told to only focus on strength rather than beauty and elegance. After years of trying, Sai decided to start a journey to raise Pokémon with moves and strategies that would silence anyone who doubts his ability to compete by perfecting his abilities beforehand.

Nami is Syrus's first Pokémon. She was given to him as an egg by a Pokémon breeder. Nami is typically calm, but eager to prove herself, typically working harder than asked. Nami sees everything as a stage, and tries her best to satisfy as many as she can. Because of this, she shares Sai's dream.

Chloe is the first Pokémon he and Nami caught on their journey. She is very timid, and tends to hide from strangers or potential threats. She is very weak defensively, and instead makes up for it with an amazing sense for auras to detect movement and avoid attacks. Although she is normally timid, she will come out in the open for sweets.
